No. The Python system is designed to preserve the naturally occurring mineral profile of treated tap water.
Dissolved calcium and magnesium ions are much smaller than the suspended particles and microorganisms targeted by the ultrafiltration membrane. They therefore remain in the water where they were already present.
This is the central principle of selective filtration: reduce what does not belong without demineralizing the water by default.
For treated municipal tap water, ultrafiltration is often the better fit when the goal is cleaner daily drinking water without removing the existing mineral profile.
The appropriate system depends on the source water. Ultrafiltration is optimized for treated municipal water. Reverse osmosis is more appropriate when desalination or broad dissolved-ion reduction is required.
The system is not designed to substantially lower total dissolved solids—and that is intentional.
A TDS meter counts dissolved mineral salts, including naturally occurring calcium and magnesium. It does not distinguish between desirable minerals and substances a customer may want to reduce.
